In the near future, traditional payment cards will significantly expand their functionality, turning into mini-computers. The new technological miracle will not only speed up the process of paying for goods, but also get rid of a number of outdated operations.

International payment system MasterCard has developed a series of innovative plastic cards:

1. Card that shows the account balance

MasterCard has developed a debit card that displays the account balance on a min- and- screen in the upper right corner of the card. The indicator appears on the map immediately after the purchase and remains visible for only a few seconds.

For security purposes, cardholders can configure the display of the balance on the screen using a PIN-code. It can be entered directly on a plastic card.

2. Card with biometric protection

New payment cards will be equipped with a fingerprint scanner. In order to unblock the credit card, you will need to put your finger on a certain area on the card.

Also, fingerprints will replace PIN- code entry at the checkout.

This type of card, called the Zwipe MasterCard, has already been tested in Norway and Poland . E. Within 12 months, customers of British banks will be able to receive the card.

3. Card for paying for goods in different currencies

When traveling abroad, the holder of such a card will not need to issue an additional credit card. It will be possible to change the settlement currency using a special switch on the front panel of the card. This feature will help you avoid additional currency conversion fees.

4. Card for several accounts at once

Very often, depositors have several accounts in one bank at once, for example, personal and corporate. The development of MasterCard will allow you to combine all your accounts on one card. You can switch between accounts again using the button on the front panel. After making a purchase, the settings will be reset so that the next time the buyer does not mistakenly use the funds from the corporate account for personal purposes, or vice versa.

5. Card that hides the account number

Instead of a 16-digit number, only 4 or 8 characters will be displayed on the front of the card. In order to gain access to the rest of the characters, you must enter the password on the built-in keyboard.

6. Cards with variable security code (CVC2)

Usually online stores require the customer to enter a three-digit code on the back of the card to confirm the purchase. In the new card, these numbers will appear on a special screen and change every three hours.

These developments will significantly reduce the level of credit card fraud.
