Raspberry Pi
Recommended to use:
  • Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB of RAM or more)
  • Raspberry Pi 5 (4GB of RAM or more)

For comfortable work, a version with 4 GB of RAM or more is recommended.

Cooling
Use a case with active cooling.
Most systems have quite noisy fans. For quiet and comfortable 24/7 operation, ARGON cases are recommended.

This is a mandatory requirement for stable operation of the device, especially when used around the clock.

If you buy a pre-built Raspberry Pi kit, the included microSD card and USB card reader are often of low quality. For stable operation, it is recommended to purchase them separately.

Recommended ARGON housing
For example:
  • Argon NEO for Raspberry Pi 5
  • Argon ONE for Raspberry Pi 4

power unit
Recommended to use:
  • original Raspberry Pi power supply;
  • or a high-quality USB Type-C power adapter with sufficient power.

Recommended power:
  • Raspberry Pi 415W and above
  • Raspberry Pi 525W and above

If possible, use standard power supplies with a constant output. Universal ("smart") chargers may be less stable.

Original Apple power supplies with sufficient power perform well.

Also use a high-quality USB Type-C cable.

Insufficient power can cause freezes, reboots, and other problems with your Raspberry Pi.

microSD card
For stable operation, it is recommended to use only high-quality memory cards.

These series are designed for a high number of write cycles and provide maximum stability during 24/7 operation.

  • SanDisk High Endurance

Acceptable option
If the above series are not available, you can use:
  • Samsung EVO Plus
  • SanDisk Extreme
  • Kingston Canvas
  • Kingston Canvas Go!

They are also suitable for Raspberry Pi, but are inferior to the Endurance and PRO series in terms of write life.

Not recommended (if there are bugs, support will tell you to change the memory card)
If possible, avoid using:
  • SanDisk Ultra
  • Kingston Select
  • budget cards without specifying the series

Such cards wear out faster and are more likely to cause unstable operation of the Raspberry Pi.

USB card reader
If your computer has a built-in SD/microSD card reader, you can use it.

In other cases, it is recommended to purchase a high-quality USB 3.0 card reader from a trusted manufacturer.

Once the equipment is prepared, you can proceed to writing the IPArmor image to the microSD card.

Depending on your IPArmor usage scenario, you may also need the following devices.

Wi-Fi adapter
Most USB Wi-Fi adapters can be used to connect your Raspberry Pi to a Wi-Fi network instead of an Ethernet cable.

Recommended adapter:

USB Type-A → Ethernet (RJ45) adapter
Allows you to add an additional Ethernet port via USB.

USB Type-C to Ethernet (RJ45) adapter
May be needed if:
  • you need to connect your smartphone or tablet via Ethernet;
  • The laptop does not have an Ethernet port (e.g. MacBook).

USB hub with external power supply
Recommended for use:
  • several USB Wi-Fi adapters;
  • USB modems;
  • SSD;
  • a large number of USB devices at the same time.

The Raspberry Pi's built-in power supply may not be sufficient for several devices.
