Although Amazon ceded its ecommerce leadership to Chinese retailer Alibaba, Amazon remains an industry giant that sets trends and continues to bring innovative services and services to market. Let's take a look at 7 innovations from Amazon that have changed the way people think about things that seem familiar.

1. Robots sorting goods.
Real robots appeared in Amazon warehouses last year. Their task is to transport the necessary goods to the sorters. The goods are usually placed in high racks, and small robots from the bottom cling to them and transport them. Each such robotic loader is capable of carrying about 300 kilograms at its height of one third of a meter.

2. Amazon Web Services.
To service a large online store, the owner needs a large number of web servers, at least for hosting the site. An entire data center might be needed. And as Amazon began to implement modern Internet technologies, leverage cloud storage and invest in the industry, it decided to provide hosting services to other users. Today, Amazon's web services include high-quality file hosting, cloud and distributed data storage, the ability to use the power of the company's servers for private needs, and rent virtual and dedicated servers. In fact, for the first time, an ordinary user could get such a wide range of services at an affordable price.

3. Amazon Kindle.
Of course, e-books existed before the Kindle came out. However, Amazon has managed to make them a consumer product. The first batch of Kindle (25 thousand devices), which was released in November 2007, was sold out in 5 hours. The ability to select a book from the catalog, pay for the purchase and immediately start reading appeared for the first time on the Kindle. The brand has now expanded beyond physical devices to include reader apps for iOS and Android.

4. Amazon Exclusives.
Amazon also became the first marketplace to offer a model of collaboration with brands, when the goods of a particular manufacturer are sold only in its brand store and in Amazon. This is exactly what exclusivity lies in, because such a model is very beneficial, for example, to startups and small companies, which cooperation with the Internet giant helps to promote and advertise their goods.

5. Delivery by drones.
Amazon plans to use small quadcopters to automatically deliver small items by air. A month ago, the company's plans were in jeopardy due to US legislation, but more recently, the Internet giant received permission to conduct test flights.

6. Dash Button.
Another Amazon invention is a button that lets you order renewable items like laundry detergent or coffee capsules with a single click. Dash Button is a small device with a product logo, which can be ordered by pressing a single button on the case. Dash Button attaches to any surface using double-sided tape or hook.

7. Trucks with a 3D printer on board.
This innovation is still at the development stage, but the company is now receiving a patent for this type of delivery, so the innovation may be launched soon. The main idea is that in order to speed up the delivery of goods, the company will stop wasting trucks, and will start using mobile "printing stations" - trucks with a 3D printer on board, which will go on local orders, creating the things the customer needs.
