Recently, in our country, the number of cases of fraud has been growing, which is associated with theft of money from bank cards. Even modern technologies do not make it possible to completely protect owners when they use cashless payment tools. And to give up "credit cards" and "plastic" is already difficult. The solution to the problem can be an insurance service.

Why do you need card insurance?
The peculiarity of domestic legislation is that it is almost impossible to prove fraud in the event of a card loss or copying. For the bank, all monetary transactions are considered legal, in the course of which a genuine card (or its exact copy) was used and a PIN code was entered. Therefore, the holder has only two ways out: to monitor the card and block it immediately in case of suspicion of copying or in case of loss; use the insurance service.

What does insurance give?
Today more and more banks offer card insurance services. Conditions and amounts insured may differ slightly, but in general they are quite similar. Usually, insurance covers cases of unauthorized transactions, illegal money management, and loss of a card. The standard validity period of the insurance policy is 12 months, the insured amount is determined by the owner when concluding the contract.

Insurance of bank cards against fraud allows you to receive full or partial compensation for damage in cases where the card:
  • fell into the hands of an intruder as a result of theft or robbery;
  • is in the possession of a fraudster who also took possession of the PIN code, putting pressure on the owner and / or threatening to violent actions;
  • was canceled when withdrawing or transferring money from the owner's account by forging documents and his personal signature;
  • Was counterfeited to withdraw money from an ATM or use it to pay for purchases in stores and over the Internet;
  • was lost by the owner;
  • was damaged due to a breakdown of an ATM or payment terminal
Other similar cases are also covered by the insurance contract, as a result of which the holder lost his bank card, and the attacker took it over.

What to do when an insured event occurs?
Banks quite strictly regulate the actions of the victim in case of theft of funds from the card. The fact of fraud must be reported to the bank within 12 to 24 hours after the incident. You also need to write a statement to law enforcement agencies. Without it, the bank will most likely refuse to consider the case as insurance and pay compensation.

In addition to deadlines, banks leave other loopholes for themselves. So, insurance is valid only on the territory of the some country, it does not apply to cases of loss of a card as a result of hostilities, terrorist acts, and some other force majeure situations. Also, insurance does not include cases when money was stolen from the card as a result of irresponsible actions of the owner himself. That is, it is likely that you will have to prove in court that it was not you yourself who voluntarily transferred the bank card and the PIN code from it to the attacker.

Like many other things in your country, there seems to be a bank card insurance service, but it seems not. It will be quite difficult to achieve payments adequate to the loss, even within the limits stipulated in the agreement. So it is best to rely on yourself in this matter and independently take all possible actions to exclude fraud.
